How can I prepare myself for my first class?
Arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a new student registration form and to familiarize yourself with the studio. You may want to bring a bottle of water and a towel. We also have water for sale at the studio and recommend that you stay hydrated.
What should I wear to my Yoga class?
Always wear comfortable clothing that will allow your body to stretch. Wear clothing that won't slip or bulge when you are lying on your yoga mat. Tops should not be too loose-fitting and should allow for easy arm movement. Pants should be a comfortable length allowing your feet and ankles to be fully exposed. Yoga is practiced in bare feet, so you will be asked to remove your shoes upon entering the practice room.
What supplies should I bring?
YogaYou will have all the supplies you need for your first yoga class. You may bring your own mat if you have one.
I am new to yoga, will YogaYou's Beginner class be appropriate for me?
Yes, our Beginner classes are designed for people of various levels, including first time students. We have experienced teachers that will guide and give you the individual attention you need.
Can I participate in yoga if I am pregnant?
Yes! YogaYou offers specific instruction guidelines for prenatal women. Please be sure to notify your yoga instructor if you are pregnant. Be sure to consult your physician before starting yoga and communicate with your yoga instructor regarding any special doctor's orders before beginning a class.
What if I'm not that flexible?
You do not have to be flexible to start practicing yoga, but flexibility will improve with continued yoga practice, as it allows your muscles to lengthen and expand.
When does the new 6 week workshop session begin?
Our current workshop is underway. The next session begins Monday, May 16th.
Helpful Tips
- Remove your shoes when entering the classroom. There are cubbyholes in the lobby area for storing your shoes.
- Leave your cell phone turned off or leave it in your car. This will ensure an uninterrupted yoga experience.
- Wear comfortable exercise clothing.
- If you have a health issue, please notify your instructor before class begins.
- To reap the significant benefits of yoga, consistent practice and dedication are required.
- Be patient with your body and never force uncomfortable poses.
